If you’re looking to avoid the crowds, an off-season weekday visit is recommended.

Dripping Springs

Located in the Ozark Highlands near the Arkansas border, Dripping Springs in Natural Falls State Park is another hidden treasure. While the main falls draw the most attention, Dripping Springs offers a quieter alternative.

The spring-fed waterfall trickles down moss-covered rocks into a crystal-clear pool, creating a serene and magical atmosphere. It’s a perfect spot for meditation, nature photography, or simply soaking in the beauty of the surroundings.

“Natural Falls State Park was a huge hit for our family. My boys (ages 8 & 6) loved the hiking trails and they weren’t too difficult for us to navigate. The waterfall is breathtaking and only a short hike from the parking lot. There are some paved paths that lead to a view of the waterfall, but most of the trails are rock. I do recommend you have some good hiking shoes to help navigate if you plan to walk down the trails. It’s a short drive from Northwest Arkansas or even the surrounding Tulsa area. I highly recommend you put Natural Falls State Park on your list to visit and enjoy some family time outdoors.”

The cascading falls can be reached by following the creek upstream from the Cache Creek trailhead. The 2.4-mile loop hike on the Kite Trail is moderately challenging, but adventurers are rewarded with a tranquil waterfall surrounded by rugged, rocky terrain and lush vegetation.

The Wichita Mountains National Wildlife Refuge is about 30 minutes northwest of Lawton OK. Rangers at the refuge’s headquarters can point you to the best access points to Cache Creek.

Sand Creek Falls
